Anonymous asked: Very interesting, thankyou and you are right- I have Ackermann's description of this walking dress and the style apparently denotes a style of day dress favoured by Princess Charlotte; and the all black colour and large kerchief (and way she carries it) are intended to suggest a day mourning costume for ladies in honour of the late Crown Princess Charlotte who had recently died in 1817.
