I’ve just done a new blog post about millinery flowers in Regency fashion plates, which inspired some floral updates to my Regency ball gown.

Above plates all from Journal des Dames et des Modes.  Please check the blog post for dates and more images!

Fashions of London and Paris, Court Dress, January 1799.

Would you EVER believe that this batshit crazy dress was accurate if you saw someone wearing it?  Proof positive that they wore some seriously bizarre gowns back then.

Visiting Dress from 1845 to 1850, The Met

Cabinet des Modes, October 1841.

I know they aren’t exactly the same, but I couldn’t help but see the similarity!

Journal des Luxus, 1786.

Gorgeous!  I love her sleeves especially.

Journal des Dames et des Modes, 1823.

What an unexpected and lovely color combination.  There isn’t much of the blue, but it is so striking that it goes a long way! I really like her sleeves and the bodice detailing!

Journal de la Mode et du Gout, May 1790.

Another lovely purple gown!  Check out those odd feathers on her bonnet- very unusual!

Historic fashion tumblrs!

There are probably more.  I hope there are more!  If you run a historic fashion blog please send me a message and I will add you!  There are lots of great tumblrs that post historic fashion among their other things, but I’m not including those here.  These are tumblrs that SOLELY focus on historic clothing. Reblog and get the word out!  I want to know ALL of the historic fashion blogs!

I’m also posting a permanent link to this on my sidebar and I’ll update it every time I find out about a new one!
